Yellowstone Winter

Photography Expedition

January 4-11 2026 (8 days)

January 11-19 2026 (9 days)

Embark on the ultimate Yellowstone expedition, experiencing this iconic park during its wildest winter season. When temperatures plummet and snow envelopes the landscape, sparkling ice crystals scatter the light like flakes of diamond as frosty bison take refuge in the warmth of erupting geysers. Against a backdrop of the clearest white, coyotes and foxes hunt voles beneath the snow while wolves traverse the hills in pursuit of prey. It all comes together to create a nature photographer’s paradise.

Onboard a heated big-wheel/over-snow vehicle we will have access to Yellowstone’s interior for 3 full days. With restricted access to this region of the park during the winter season, we will have some of the most iconic landscape and wildlife locations to ourselves.

We will then spend another 3 full days in the park’s wildlife-rich Northern Range, including the famous Lamar Valley. This region remains one of the best places in the world to witness not only wild wolves but also bighorn sheep, red foxes, coyotes, bison, elk, bald eagles, ermine, and more.

Limited to no more than 5 guests, we offer personalized photography guidance from Syler Peralta-Ramos, your photography expert and expedition leader. Syler is a Wyoming local having grown up with Yellowstone as his backyard. As an editor for Thomas D. Mangelsen and an experienced photography guide, he has an eye for great photographs and will ensure you return from your trip with portfolio-worthy images.

Testimonials

“With 3 full days out of both West Yellowstone and Gardiner, Syler provided the best opportunity to witness the wonderful wildlife that Yellowstone has to offer. He was extremely thorough in seeking out the best spots to see wildlife and because of that, we had great sightings of wolves, foxes and many coyotes all up close, otters, bald eagles, ravens, a pygmy owl, swans and of course bison galore but in all different environments and lighting, providing so many opportunities for creating great images.

Over and above, Syler was a joy to be around, attentive to needs, both photographic and provisions. Nothing was too much trouble. He taught me some great ways to best set up and use my camera that allowed me to better capture wildlife on the move. Invaluable and very much appreciated.

Thoroughly recommend Syler and Pangea, if you want to capture wildlife.” - 2025 participant, Patrick F.
