Embark on the ultimate Yellowstone expedition, experiencing this iconic park during its wildest winter season. When temperatures plummet and snow envelopes the icy landscape, sparkling ice crystals scatter the light like flakes of diamond as frosty bison take refuge in the warmth of erupting geysers. Against a backdrop of the clearest white, coyotes and foxes hunt voles beneath the snow while wolves traverse the hills in pursuit of prey. It all comes together to create a nature photographer’s paradise.

Fluffy bears & cubs of the Katmai Coast

Immerse yourself in the land of bears during the peak of springtime activity on the Alaska Peninsula. Launching from the M/V Le Canard – an expedition yacht that will be our home in Katmai National Park – we will spend a week photographing springtime bears and tiny cubs at their fluffiest, with mountain backdrops that have to be seen to be believed. Each day on shore we will photograph the remarkable concentrations of bears at eye-level without boardwalks, crowds, or time limits. Bears are the main attraction though coastal wolf, eagle, sea otter, fox and puffin sightings are all also possible.

Fishing Bears of the Katmai Coast
Katmai’s coastline is renowned as the ultimate spot to witness brown bears in their wildest setting. As you glance along the shoreline to see dozens of bears in a single salmon-filled stream, you will understand the magic here. Launching from the M/V Le Canard – an expedition yacht that will be our home on the coast of Katmai National Park – we will spend a week photographing bears at eye-level without boardwalks, crowds, or time limits, allowing us to be in the heart of the salmon-season action.

During this often overlooked time of year, the largest moose of the Jackson Hole Valley congregate as they spar and prepare for the coming winter.
